Welcome back to the return of NHL Predictions. Each day, Last Word on Hockey takes a look at the games that are happening and gives our predictions for each one, breaking down head-to-head matchups and other factors that may play in. We also have a featured game of the day, which is considered must-watch TV. Today’s featured game is the St Louis Blues vs Montreal Canadiens. NHL Predictions
Utah Hockey Clubs vs Los Angeles Kings
Time: 4 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT)
TV: Sportsnet; Fan Duel Sports West; Utah16; ESPN+
Our opening game of NHL predictions has the Utah Hockey Club to take on the Los Angeles Kings. Utah has slowed down after a red-hot start and has lost two straight games. Connor Ingram is the expected starter for Utah, but always check social media before locking in a fantasy starter. Dylan Guenther leads the team in goals with, but has slowed down after a hot start. Clayton Keller is first in points with eight on four goals and four assists.
Los Angeles is expected to go with Darcy Kuemper in goal for this game. The Kings have been able to beat up on the bad teams and have won two straight games. Alex Laferriere is leading the way in goals with four while Anze Kopitar is the team-leader in points with eight.
This could be an important early-season game. However, the Kings should pick up the victory.
Prediction: Kings win 4-3.
St Louis Blues vs Montreal Canadiens
Time: 7 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT)
TV: Fan Duel Sports Midwest; SN1; CityTV; TVAS; ESPN+
Our second and featured game of NHL predictions has the Blues visiting the Canadiens. Jordan Binnington is the expected starter for the Blues, who are coming off a victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs. St Louis is without Robert Thomas for the foreseeable future due to a lower-body injury. Jordan Kyrou is first in points with nine while a number of players have the team-lead in goals with three.
Sam Montembeault is the confirmed starter for Montreal in this one as it tries to get back on the winning track. The Habs have lost four straight games and a number of injuries. Cole Caufield leads the team in goals with six while he’s tied with captain Nick Suzuki for the lead in points with seven.
Both teams have been struggling with injuries, but the Blues are able to adapt a bit better.
Prediction: Blues win 4-2.
Anaheim Ducks vs New York Rangers
Time: 7 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT)
TV: KCOP-TV; MSG; ESPN+
Our final game of NHL predictions has the Anaheim Ducks visit the New York Rangers. Lukas Dostal is the expected starter for the Ducks, who have been respectable to start the season. Troy Terry is first in goals (4) and assists (5) for Anaheim. Mason McTavish leads the team in assists with three so far.
Jonathan Quick is the expected starter for the Rangers, who are coming off their first regulation loss of the season. However, the Blueshirts should still be considered one of the top teams’ in the NHL. Artemi Panarin is having a monster start of the season by leading in goals (6), assists (8) and points (14).
Anaheim has been solid, but New York gets back on the winning track.
Prediction: Rangers win 4-1.
Prop Bets of the Night
We have a couple of prop bets for this set of NHL predictions. St Louis is getting -125 in the game against Montreal and the spread of 1.5 is at +210.
For the final game, Alexis Lafreniere is a good pick on FanDuel for an anytime scorer at +190. Terry is worth a shot +430 for an anytime scorer as well.
