Monahan Returns To Montreal On New Contract
Snake-bitten by injuries is an understatement when it comes to Sean Monahan. Even dating back to his days with the Calgary Flames, staying healthy has been difficult. Montreal took a chance and it paid off. However, an injury cut his season in short dating back to early December. But with his time to begin the year, Monahan scored six goals and 11 assists in 25 games. He looked rejuvenated and was enjoying life under head coach Martin St Louis. Like many others, life under their new head coach has shown flashes in their game and providing an overall spark. It is worth the gamble to see what he can do for a full season and healthy.
The Future Of Montreal
This Sean Monahan contract shows promise for next season. The Future of the Montreal Canadiens is a bright one. Kent Hughes has already managed to pay Cole Caufield his extension and has now shored up depth down the middle. Monahan helps solidify the position to start the year lining up behind Nick Suzuki. Monahan is no stranger to point producing and that’s what’s needed. The core of Caufield, Suzuki, and Kirby Dach is a good foundation. This team may not be ready to compete for a playoff spot, but they are young and will be a fun group to watch. A healthy Monahan could go a long way to helping the club this season after a strong start. This is a great deal for him to bet on himself and the team taking a chance on the player.
